Timber Pile Support
Proven Results from Experienced Foundation Experts
If you've ever driven through a coastal community, you've probably noticed that a large percentage of houses don't sit directly on foundations, but instead are raised by timber posts (or timber piles, as they’re called). This is to protect the house from soil erosion and from encroaching tides that come with severe weather. These piles, however, don't last forever and often need to be replaced or reinforced due to wear and tear over time—which, when left unaddressed, can threaten the integrity of these homes and the safety of its occupants.
At Ram Jack®, our trusted and experienced foundation repair specialists are often called upon to address these timber pile issues and re-establish stability and safety for homeowners. Not only has Ram Jack executed countless traditional timber pile house repairs and lifts, but our engineers have also developed our own solutions to provide cost-effective, noninvasive, and long-lasting results.

How It Works
The key to re-establishing timber pile integrity is to create support via a new pile that is installed parallel to the existing columns. At Ram Jack, we most often do this with what is called a helical pile. These steel helical piles come in segments and can be connected to accommodate different depths. They also have helical flights, which are spiraled plates that allow us to drill these piles into the ground, much like a screw is driven into wood.
To support ailing timber piles, Ram Jack will:
- Drive helical piles into the soil at strategic points
- Connect these piles to the ailing timber pile with brackets
- Lift the piles using hydraulic cylinders (if necessary)
- Level the structure by installing helical anchors (if necessary)
These are, of course, the broad strokes for this kind of job. Ram Jack has been providing foundation repair for more than 40 years and if there's one thing we've learned, it's that no two jobs are alike. That is why we are committed to bringing knowledgeable insight into your foundation issue and design customized solutions to meet every unique challenge your property is currently facing.
