Windsor Forestry Tools
Situation: October 2008, Windsor Forestry Tools, a local industrial facility in
Milan, TN, contacted Ram Jack of Tennessee with some foundation issues
they were having with their building. During the site inspection, large
cracks were observed in the perimeter wall that allowed sunlight to be
seen from inside the building through the cracks. An elevation survey
determined the perimeter foundation and floor slab had settled three (3”)
inches. The owners required that any underpinning work that was required
have minimal to no effect on the facility's daily operations.
Solution: Ram Jack’s helical steel piling system was chosen by the owner
to underpin and raise the structure. A total of 31 piles were required.
Sixteen (16) of these piles were installed beneath the exterior grade
beam and 15 piles beneath the interior floor slab. The embedment depth
of the piles ranged from 29 to 35 feet below grade.
Conclusion: Once the helical piles were installed, Ram Jack of Tennessee was able
to achieve full elevation recovery to the structure. The entire project
took four days to complete with no interruptions to the daily business
operations of the facility. Ram Jack Helical Piles are stronger, faster
and cleaner than any underpinning system on the market today.
