Stabilization of Myrtle Beach Home
Resting on the peaceful Intracoastal Waterway in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina,
is a beautiful, two-story home. With a welcoming entry, magnificent facade,
and lovely river view, the home exudes luxury and comfort. Given its recent
construction and flawless appearance, its owners were surprised to begin
noticing cracks in the walls and uneven floors, prompting them to contact
Ram Jack South Carolina for a professional opinion.
Situation: After a thorough inspection, Ram Jack South Carolina found significant
foundation settlement in various areas of the home, most notably the entryway
and kitchen. The floor was uneven and separating from the baseboards in
some areas. Given how quickly the home’s foundation settled relative
to its age, Ram Jack South Carolina advised the owners to act quickly
to prevent any further settlement and damage.
Proposed Solution: Ram Jack South Carolina proposed the installation of 51 helical piles,
strategically placed to maximize lift and provide foundation support on
the entire home. However, the proposal was outside of the owners’
budget, and a new plan was proposed with the aid of Martinez & Associates,
a structural engineering company in the area, and a Ram Jack foundation
specialist. The new proposal included fewer piles placed only in the most
problematic areas to maximize the support of damaged areas while minimizing costs.
Outcome: Over the course of two days, Ram Jack South Carolina installed (14) 2 3⁄8”
helical piles to an average depth of 25 ft. These piles provided adequate
lift and stabilization to maximize recovery for the home while preventing
further settlement damage in the areas of installation. When the job was
complete, the homeowner enthusiastically said, “Very good work crew.
I am happy with the results at this point. Cleanup was excellent!”
