Helical Piles in Mezz Level
For the Folgers Coffee Company nestled in New Orleans, Louisiana, a new
mezzanine level in an existing building required a bit more research and
engineering in order to be ready for new additions to it. When it was
time to craft a solution prior to the project, Ram Jack was on the job.
Ram Jack Comes In
Ram Jack of Louisiana was called to the scene to assess the situation and
make sure the project was properly thought through and would be safe over
time — especially because this addition was to occur in an pre-existing,
older building.
After calculation and deliberation, it was determined that 78, 2 ⅞ inch
helical piles would be required in order to provide safety of the area.
This would be supplemented with a 10-12 inch disc arrangement on the lead
section and all new pile caps. Between these grade beams, Ram Jack Louisiana
also proposed the cutting of 6-foot sections in order to make the installation
simple, fast, and overall effective.
Successful Applications
Ram Jack dedicated an entire day to testing the piles, and in less than
two weeks after the project began, the entire installation was complete
without any major changes to the original plan. With an average depth
of 25 feet, the mezzanines were officially ready to be built without any
other delays, setbacks, or worries about the future structural soundness
of the area.
